Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Estimator to join our preconstruction team. This individual will be responsible for producing comprehensive, accurate cost estimates for mechanical piping systems on large-scale commercial and high-rise building projects, from early conceptual budgeting through final bid submission. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in mechanical piping estimating, strong relationships with subcontractors and vendors, and a track record of winning and supporting the successful execution of complex, high-value work in the New York City market.
What you will do
- Lead full-cycle estimating for mechanical piping systems (HVAC piping, and related systems) on large commercial and high-rise construction projects
- Analyze drawings, specifications, and scopes of work to develop accurate, detailed quantity takeoffs and cost estimates
- Solicit, evaluate, and negotiate pricing from subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors
- Prepare and present competitive, well-substantiated bid proposals for General Contractors, Construction Managers, and Owners
- Identify project risks, value engineering opportunities, and cost-saving alternatives during the preconstruction phase
- Collaborate closely with Project Executives, Project Managers, and field leadership to ensure smooth turnover from estimating to execution
- Maintain and build relationships with clients, GCs, CMs, architects, and engineers to support ongoing and future business development
- Track historical cost data, market trends, and labor/material pricing to continuously refine estimating accuracy
- Participate in bid strategy meetings, pre-bid walkthroughs, and scope reviews
- Mentor and support junior estimators as needed
What you bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field strongly preferred, or equivalent industry experience. 8+ years of estimating experience in mechanical piping systems, with a strong focus on large-scale commercial and/or high-rise construction in the NYC market
- Proficiency with estimating software (e.g., On-Screen Takeoff, Bluebeam, Trimble Autobid, Fastpipe, or similar) and Microsoft Excel
- Strong understanding of NYC construction codes, union labor agreements, and local market conditions
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple bids simultaneously under tight deadlines
- Established relationships with subcontractors, vendors, and industry partners in the NYC area a strong plus

Compensation: The salary range for this position is $120,000 – $170,000 annually, commensurate with experience, qualifications, and market factors. This range reflects the base salary only; total compensation may also include performance-based bonuses and the benefits outlined above.
