988 - Van Accessibility Technician

Position Type: Full-Time

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt (Hourly)

Shift Schedule: Monday–Thursday 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.; Friday 6:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m.

Work Location: On-Site (Production Facility)

Reports To: Production Manager / Shop Supervisor

Job Summary

The Van Accessibility Technician is responsible for the installation and assembly of mobility equipment and vehicle accessibility systems in wheelchair-accessible vans. This role supports ADAboy’s mission to deliver safe, reliable, and high-quality mobility solutions that empower individuals with greater independence.

Key Responsibilities

·        Install wheelchair lifts, ramps, securement systems, and other accessibility components.

·        Mount and secure seating, grab handles, steps, and related interior hardware.

·        Perform basic electrical wiring for lighting, alarms, control systems, and safety interlocks.

·        Modify vehicle interiors, flooring, trim, HVAC components, and windows as needed per build requirements.

·        Install and service wheelchair van lowering systems and related components.

·        Conduct quality and safety inspections to ensure all work meets ADA and company standards.

·        Follow all ADAboy installation SOPs and manufacturer guidelines to ensure safe, consistent builds.

·        Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.

·        Operate hand and power tools safely and report any equipment issues promptly.

·        Collaborate effectively with other team members and supervisors.

·        Perform other duties as assigned to support overall shop operations.

Qualifications

·        High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

·        Technical or vocational certification in automotive, mechanical, or electrical fields preferred.

·        Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn through on-the-job training.

·        Reliable, detail-oriented, and safety-conscious.

·        Team player with good communication skills and a positive attitude.

·        Possess or be able to obtain and maintain the basic automotive hand tools required to perform the essential functions of the position.

Tools & Equipment

Employees in this position are expected to provide and maintain a basic set of automotive hand tools necessary to perform the essential functions of the job. ADAboy, Inc. will provide specialty tools, shop equipment, and tools unique to company operations.

Employees are responsible for maintaining their personal tools in safe working condition and replacing any lost, damaged, or worn tools necessary to perform their assigned duties.

Applicants should possess the majority of the required tools before beginning employment. Any approved exceptions or missing tools must be documented and obtained within an agreed-upon timeframe established during the hiring process.

Failure to maintain the required tools may affect job performance and may result in corrective action in accordance with company policy.

Physical Requirements

·        Ability to lift, move, and position parts and equipment up to 50 lbs.

·        Frequent standing, bending, kneeling, and reaching during installation work.

·        Comfortable working with hand and small power tools for extended periods.

·        Able to safely move in and around vehicles while performing installation tasks.

·        Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.

Safety & Work Standards

·        Follow all shop safety policies, procedures, and PPE requirements.

·        Report unsafe conditions or equipment concerns immediately.

·        Participate in all required safety training.
