Job Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated, passionate 6th-grade science teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of middle school science concepts and a commitment to creating an engaging, hands-on learning environment. This role focuses on helping students explore scientific ideas through experiments, critical thinking, and real-world connections.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging science lessons aligned with district curriculum and standards
  • Teach core topics such as life science, earth science, and physical science
  • Create a classroom environment that encourages curiosity, exploration, and problem-solving
  • Use hands-on activities, experiments, and demonstrations to support learning
  • Assess student progress regularly and adjust instruction as needed
  • Maintain a structured, respectful, and positive classroom environment
  • Communicate with parents/guardians about student progress and needs
  • Collaborate with other teachers and staff to improve instructional practices
  • Integrate technology into lessons to enhance student engagement
  • Participate in professional development to stay current with best practices
  • Maintain accurate records of student performance and progress

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Science, or a related field
  • Valid teaching certification in Louisiana (or enrollment in an approved alternative certification program)
  • Experience teaching middle school students (preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of science concepts and the scientific method
  • Ability to create engaging, hands-on learning experiences
  • Strong communication and classroom management skills
  • Ability to adapt instruction for students with different learning needs
  • Passion for helping students develop curiosity and a love for science

Desired Skills:

  • Experience with digital learning platforms (e.g., Google Classroom, Seesaw, etc.).
  • Familiarity with using interactive whiteboards, tablets, and other tech tools to enhance learning.
  • Willingness to learn new technologies and innovate in the classroom to improve student outcomes.
