Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Director Cardiac Services for Mercy Bakersfield Hospital, you will be tasked with a very exciting opportunity - to spearhead the development of a cardiac services program from the group up! We are presently in the construction phase for 3 Cath Lab/IR suites with completion expected in early 2027, and licensing for the space anticipated in March 2027. We will be looking to your expertise as we navigate the opening of this service line, and you will lead the efforts in planning, hiring and developing staff, creating educational and programmatic competencies, and ensuring we meet all regulatory requirements for operating the Cath Labs. You will also help determine strategies and pathways for future growth and service development, such as adding diagnostics and EP.

Every day, you will provide operational oversight to this new service line, program development and management, and identify opportunities for growth within service delivery. This position will be a liaison and communications link between senior leadership, medical staff, nursing personnel, hospital employees and outside vendors. This position will be responsible for maintaining quality standards for the cardiac programs, maintaining current and accurate policies, procedures and practices pursuant to program accreditation and certification requirements.

To be successful in this role, you will need to be an experienced manager, with a track record of success in mid to large sized hospitals overseeing cardiac services. You must be competent and confident, with excellent communication skills one-on-one and in front of groups, and will need to be well versed in strategy and program development.

We are offering relocation assistance to all hires who meet relocation eligibility requirements.

Additional incentives for this position include an annual performance-based bonus program, annual employer-funded retirement contribution (no employee contribution required), no-cost medical coverage for the employee, and a Flexible Time Away program.

  • Minimum five (5) years in responsible hospital or medical group leadership operations at the administration level required.
