WHAT YOU’LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR IN THIS ROLE

The Maintenance Helper will assist the maintenance mechanic in trouble shooting minor adjustments and repairs of plant equipment; to achieve maximum levels of quality and production while minimizing downtime. Training is “on-the-job” and the working environment is fast paced. This vital position also works closely with the maintenance staff.

Alert maintenance of all breakdowns and give updates to equipment status
Make adjustments as necessary to plant equipment to optimize quality and production
Performs preventive maintenance and light repair
Maintains manual or computerized records such as material inventory, preventative maintenance logs, in-process production reports, and status and location of materials
Monitors materials and resources required to complete assignments
Moves or transports materials from one job assignment to another
Monitors and controls movement of material and parts on automated conveyor system
Arranges for and participates in repair and assembly of materials or parts
70% of time will be spent in or near production areas
Responsible for maintaining a clean and safe plant
Performs other duties as assigned.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

Required Skills and Abilities:

Forklift certification
Ability to communicate effectively
Good mathematical skills

Minimum Qualifications:

High School/GED or one year of experience in related field or combination of both education and experience 
Candidates must have a verifiable history of safe vehicle operation and meet company standards for driving eligibility. This includes maintaining a clean driving record, which will be verified through a background check
Forklift Certification or must be able to obtain forklift certification within 30 days of hire

Preferred Qualifications:

Two years’ related experience and/or training

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Environmental exposure - cold/wet conditions (40 ° Fahrenheit or below),indoor and out door.
Material exposure – moving mechanical parts 
Occasional exposure to fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals 
Ability to lift, push, pull, and/or carry up to 50lbs. 
Ability to ascend and descend ladders, scaffolding, using 3-point contact on a regular basis when assigned to perform work duties.
Ability to use hands and arms to grasp, manipulate, and handle scanning objects in one position or in a repetitive motion for an extended period. 
Ability to stand for long periods of time

HOURS & WORKDAYS:

3rd Shift – 11:00 PM to 07:30 AM; Overtime, Weekends, and Holidays may be mandatory based on business needs. Rotating workday/time off schedules may be mandatory depending on department/business needs as well.
