Security Supervisor – Chenega / NASA (Edwards AFB, California)
The Security Supervisor supports Chenega and NASA at Edwards Air Force Base in California by leading armed security operations that protect personnel, facilities, and mission‑critical assets. This role oversees first‑response activities, enforces federal and assimilated state laws, and directs patrols, inspections, and search operations. Supervisors manage traffic enforcement and investigations, initiate arrests when necessary, and ensure all security procedures meet NASA standards. This position is armed and may be required to carry a sidearm, shotgun, or other authorized weapons.
Responsibilities
Maintain complete site knowledge, including all buildings, facilities, post orders, emergency procedures, special instructions, and shift‑specific duties.
Lead and direct shift personnel by issuing instructions, ensuring officers understand all orders and updates, and confirming they are fully familiar with their posts and responsibilities.
Oversee equipment and staffing, ensuring proper use and maintenance of all site equipment and managing post coverage for absences, call‑offs, and operational needs.
Monitor and report security activity, including notifying leadership of emergencies, reviewing logbook entries for accuracy, and preparing written reports on incidents, injuries, and security breaches.
Conduct performance oversight, including unannounced inspections to assess officer performance and adherence to procedures.

Qualifications
Age, licensing, and clearance eligibility: Must be at least 21 years old, able to possess and maintain a valid driver’s license, and eligible to obtain a DoD security clearance (not required to start).
Experience and background: Four years of law enforcement supervisory experience or two years as a NASA SPO, with preferred military or law enforcement experience and honorable discharge if applicable.
Training and certifications: Completion of NBTS, ICS‑100, ICS‑200, ICS‑300, IS‑700, and IS‑800, along with required certifications such as Hazwoper, EMR, BLS, and First Aid/CPR.
Professional preparation: Preferred graduation from a recognized federal, state, local, or military law enforcement or physical security academy.
Readiness and capability: Must meet all standards necessary to perform armed duties and maintain required certifications throughout employment.
