Today, we are a leading not-for-profit agency employing 1200+ staff and providing over 70 program sites in Nassau and Suffolk. In this position, you will:
- 路 Help people supported achieve/exceed their personal goals
- 路 Provide structure and emotional support聽
- 路 Assist in resolving behavioral issues
- 路 Help people supported with personal hygiene needs聽
- 路 Complete detailed, accurate documentation聽
- 路 Transport program participants to and from medical appointments and recreation activities using Agency vehicles聽
We require:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.聽
- Clean, valid New York State driver鈥檚 license.聽
- 聽Ability to communicate and understand in English; both verbally and in writing.聽
- Some experience working with the intellectually and developmentally disabled population preferred; but will train. Cooking and light housekeeping may be required. 聽
- Must obtain and maintain AMAP and SCIP certifications
- The ability to perform SCIP maneuvers which may require bending, twisting, kneeling, crouching, lying on the ground, and supporting another person鈥檚 body weight.
- The ability to reach, bend, twist, kneel, and squat as you assist people with physical activities.聽
- The ability to assist with lifting and transferring a person. The ability to lift up to 15 lbs.聽
- Prior experience as Caregiver, Care Assistant, Personal Assistant, Resident Assistant, Direct Care Worker, Nursing Assistant, Home Care Aide or Companion is a plus
