Provide behavioral health and substance use counseling services that support clients during treatment, including assessment, counseling, and care planning. About Us Baltimore Crisis Response, Inc. (BCRI) is a nonprofit organization providing behavioral health crisis response services in Baltimore, including telephone crisis support, mobile crisis response teams, residential crisis services, and medical detoxification services. Since 1992, BCRI has provided behavioral health crisis intervention and substance use treatment services for individuals experiencing mental health or substance use crises in Baltimore. The Opportunity We are seeking a Substance Use Counselor to provide intake, assessment, treatment planning, and counseling for clients in BCRI’s 3.7 residential treatment unit. In this role, you will conduct biopsychosocial assessments, develop individualized treatment plans, and provide individual and group counseling for clients receiving residential substance use treatment services. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to coordinate substance use treatment services and support continuity of care. Essential Functions Provide individual and group counseling for clients in 3.7 residential treatment. Complete biopsychosocial (BPS) assessments and initial treatment plans upon admission. Review progress with clients and update treatment goals in collaboration with the care team. Document all services in Credible (electronic medical record). Prepare and submit initial and concurrent authorizations to payors/insurers. Complete discharge summaries and coordinate discharge planning with the client’s care team. Coordinate communication with internal program staff and external service providers as assigned. Adhere to BCRI policies, clinical protocols, and behavioral health program requirements. Perform other duties as assigned that align with the scope of the role. QualificationsQualifications Education & Credentials: Associate’s Degree and CSC-AD (or higher). Experience: Minimum of 2 years working with individuals in the public behavioral health system (preferred). Skills & Requirements: Valid, unrestricted driver’s license (required). Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (required). Experience with EHR/EMR systems (preferred). Physical Demands Prolonged periods sitting at a desk/computer and standing, bending, and reaching.
