Â
The Clinical Training Specialist plays a crucial role in developing and implementing training programs to enhance the skills and knowledge of our behavioral health staff. Â This position is designed to ensure that our staff are well-equipped to provide high-quality mental health services, with a specific focus on racially equitable and inclusive clinical practices. Â The Clinical Training Specialist will serve as the conduit for academic programs seeking to place interns with the agency and provide clinical supervision to students. Â This position will provide direct supervision for early career clinicians and student interns, participating in the recruitment and hiring of both. Â In addition, this position provides treatment services to a small caseload of homeless adult, adolescent and geriatric clients who may present with co-occurring disorders.
Key Role ResponsibilitiesÂ
- Provide direct supervision for early career clinicians and student interns. Â Partner with Senior Director of Behavioral Health and HR to recruit and hire new staff and interns. Â Â
- Develop and implement training programs that address the specific needs of racially and culturally diverse populations.
- Stay abreast of the latest research, trends, and best practices in behavioral health to ensure training content is current and relevant.
- Provide support and guidance to staff during and after training sessions, fostering a welcoming space for open discussion and continued learning.
- Collaborate with other behavioral health professionals to create comprehensive and effective training materials. Â Customize training programs based on the unique requirements and goals of different organizations and funders. Â
- Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs through feedback, assessments and measurable outcomes. Â
- Maintain standards for provision of CEU in accordance with social work and professional counselor licensing boards for the state of MD. Track and issue CEU for training participants as appropriate. Â
- Provide clinical supervision to social work
- Provide individual and group therapy for a small caseload of clients. Â Complete initial assessments, treatment plans and screenings in accordance with agency standards. Â Â
- Completes documentation of services in a legible manner in accordance with established formats and required timeframes within the client’s electronic health record. Ensures that documentation accurately reflects billable services provided.  Â

- Performs other duties on an as-needed basis
- Protects our client’s personal health information by maintaining compliance with HIPAA and other relevant Health Care related IT security regulations
Knowledge, Experience, and SkillsÂ
Â
Formal Education and Training
- Master’s degree in social work, counseling, or psychology
- Active license in the state of Maryland (LCSW-C) with supervisory designation

Experience
Â
- Three years of experience in the evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of chronic mental illness and substance abuseÂ
- Five years of experience supervising staff and/or interns, where there was emphasis on provision of training and ongoing education
- Experience working with homeless and/or low-income individuals and families
- Familiarity with adult learning principles and instructional design

- Able to work independently as a social worker on an interdisciplinary team
- Strong knowledge of various mental health disorders, treatments, and interventions
- Willingness to integrate relevant principles into practice such as Harm Reduction, Motivational Interviewing and Housing First
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Able to cope with interruptions and be a team player
- Flexible approach, working with several cross-disciplinary teams in a collaborative style

- Able to work with clients who have significant mental health challenges, manage crisis situations and assess for safety
