Primary Purpose

 

Responsible for planning, developing and editing a variety of content and materials to communicate Exelon’s priorities to internal and external audiences. This position will assist the senior manager, Editorial with management of the content hub housed on exeloncorp.com, responsible for sourcing, developing and editing stories, videos and other materials that showcase Exelon’s long-term vision, advocacy for policies that benefit our customers, community support and initiatives that position the company as an employer of choice. This position will also develop and edit employee communications and executive thought leadership materials and serve as project lead for related initiatives. This role will collaborate across the company and work closely with functional subject matter experts as well as operating company communications teams. Performs other duties as assigned by the senior manager, Editorial and Director, Employee Communications and Executive Thought Leadership. This position reports to Senior Manager, Communications and will represent them in their absence.

 

Note: This is a hybrid position (in-office with remote flexibility). Employees are required to be in office at least three days per week (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday).

 

This role is open to our corporate offices within IL, PA, MD or Washington DC.


Primary Duties

 

  • Manage the exeloncorp.com content hub for external-facing company stories, produce accurate, compelling, and editorially proficient written communications. (40%)
  • Ensure effective communication of corporate messages and content on a company-wide basis to employees. (10%)
  • Directly interface with business unit communications managers to ensure consistency of messaging. (15%)
  • Manage a variety of communication tasks to support leadership, including briefers and remarks. (25%)
  • Manage vendor/agency relationships in the development of collateral, and the execution of projects. (10%)

Job Scope

 

  • Position reports directly to the Senior Manager, Communications.
  • Position activities are focused on internal and external communications and leadership support, while participating in and supporting initiatives and projects developed by communications managers across all business units
  • Involves proactive communication planning and plan execution, significant writing, editing and development of communications materials, and a high level of coordination with other communication and business functions.
  • Requires excellent writing, editing and project management skills.
  • High level of organization, strategic thinking, and presentation required
  • Required travel.
  • Operates independently with little or no supervision.

Minimum Qualifications

 

  • Masters degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Advertising, or related field; 4-7 years’ experience in internal communications and publications.
  • 7-10 years of relevant experience.
  • Energy business/industry knowledge.
  • In lieu of degree, 9-12 years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

 

  • Proven, excellent communications skills – both written and interpersonal.
  • Demonstrated strategic thinking and project management skills.
