Overview
The Senior Project Manager (SPM) is responsible for the successful planning, execution, and closeout of multiple construction projects, while also providing leadership and oversight to a team of Project Managers. This dual role ensures project excellence and supports organizational growth by developing internal talent and optimizing operations.
Key Responsibilities
Project Leadership
- Direct manage key projects
- Review project scope, budgets, schedules, and deliverables in collaboration with internal teams.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for high-value clients, ensuring consistent communication and stakeholder satisfaction
- Manage subcontractor selection, contract negotiation, and performance
Team Oversight & Development
- Mentor a team of Project Managers, Assistant Project Managers, and Project Engineers
- Attend Progress meetings with owners
- Provide guidance and assistance to PM in management of schedule and updates
- Provide guidance and assistance to PM/APM in handling of subcontractor issues
- Ensure timely submission of contract deliverables
- Conduct quarterly conversations with direct reports
- Ensure customer satisfaction through proactive management of projects
- Provide guidance and assistance to PM in preparation of Owner Change Orders
- Report issues impacting profitability, schedule, and customer satisfaction to Director of Ops
- Review and support development of project execution plans, risk mitigation strategies, and client-facing deliverables.
- Lead performance reviews, training, and career development initiatives for direct reports.
- Enforce Matos processes across projects for quality, safety, scheduling, and cost control.
- Ensure timely submission of company deliverables (timesheets, profit projections, draw schedules, etc) of subordinates
Operational & Strategic Duties
- Work closely with senior leadership on resource allocation, project portfolio planning, and forecasting.
- Drive implementation of process improvements and project management software/tools.
- Participate in business development efforts including preconstruction planning and estimating, RFP responses, and client presentations, when required.
- Attend industry events as needed
