Description

The Environmental & Culinary Assistant at Transformation Healthcare Inc. (THI) performs a multifaceted role that combines custodial and kitchen operations. This position supports a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for both clients and staff while ensuring the smooth functioning of food preparation and facility upkeep. The ideal candidate demonstrates empathy, resilience, teamwork, and strong communication skills while maintaining THI’s high standards of care and service.


Kitchen Duties

  • Clean and sanitize dishes, cookware, and utensils.
  • Maintain clean and sanitary food preparation and service workstations.
  • Coordinate with the catering company to ensure timely delivery of cooked and ready-to-serve meals.
  • Serve pre-cooked meals to clients according to the meal schedule.
  • Follow all food health, safety, and organizational policies.
  • Assist with the unloading and proper storage of food and supply deliveries.
  • Communicate kitchen needs or shortages to the supervisor promptly.
  • Interact courteously with clients and staff during meal service as needed.
  • Prepare and bag uncooked food items for PHP clients to take home for breakfast and dinner.


Custodial Duties

  • Perform general custodial tasks such as sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming floors.
  • Clean and sanitize restrooms and replenish supplies.
  • Empty trash receptacles and properly dispose of waste.
  • Dust and wipe down surfaces, including desks, tables, windowsills, and fixtures.
  • Clean and maintain common areas, hallways, and stairwells.
  • Perform buffing and polishing of floors as needed.
  • Clean every office daily to maintain professional presentation and hygiene standards.
  • Conduct light cleaning in the morning and detailed cleaning in the afternoon after lunch; ensure all trash is taken out and offices are left clean.
  • Clean behind chairs, desks, and corners to remove cobwebs and accumulated dust.
  • Assist with basic facility maintenance and cleanliness projects as assigned.
  • Follow all safety protocols and use appropriate cleaning agents and equipment.
  • Maintain inventory of cleaning and kitchen supplies, notifying the supervisor when replenishment is needed.
  • Conduct deep cleaning of all facility areas at least once per month or as directed by the supervisor.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Prior knowledge of food safety and sanitation procedures preferred.
  • Previous experience in a restaurant, cafeteria, or kitchen environment preferred.
  • Prior custodial or janitorial experience strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of industrial cleaning techniques is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Excellent time management skills to ensure duties are completed efficiently.
  • Physical stamina to perform repetitive tasks and lift moderate weights as required.
  • Effective communication skills to interact with colleagues, supervisors, and clients.


Work Environment

This position involves standing for long periods, exposure to cleaning agents, and occasional lifting of supplies or equipment. The Environmental & Culinary Assistant may interact directly with clients and must maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and compassion at all times.


Physical Requirement:

  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods.
  • Capable of lifting objects up to 25 pounds.
  • Regular use of office equipment, including phones, computers, and copiers.
  • Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively.
