University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) is currently seeking a contractual Food Service Aide I to work at our Donaldson Brown Riverfront Event Center in Cecil County, Maryland. Under direct supervision, the ideal candidate will provide routine assistance in the preparation and serving of drinks, food, sanitation, and/or kitchen maintenance. Using superior customer service, the ideal individual will offer bar services to contracted groups.Frequently lifting 25 pounds up to 50 pounds.

UMB is a public university and constituent institution of the University System of Maryland.  All employees are expected to work primarily physically within the State of Maryland.

 

PRIMARY DUTIES


1. Currently holds TIPS certification for approved alcohol server/seller training

2. Knowledge of mixology for traditional and creative cocktails

3. Impeccable customer service and social perceptiveness

4. Ability to evaluate customer satisfaction and be responsive

5. Ability to enforce company policies regarding the consumption of alcohol

6. Accountability in maintaining inventory

7. Physical ability to stand or walk for long periods of time

8. Ability to verify the customers’ ages

9. Clean glasses and bar utensils

10. Ability to set up bar and clean bar at end of shift

11. Assists with the preparation of food items by slicing, chopping, grating, cleaning, mixing, etc.

12. Serves food and drink following established food portion control standards.

13. Maintains the operational readiness of facilities and equipment; sets up counters, steam tables, serving lines and serving utensils.

14. Maintains safe and sanitary conditions in cooking, serving and general work areas; cleans facilities and equipment, washes, sanitizes, and stores pots, pans, and kitchen utensils.

15. Assists in stocking and storing drink and food service items. Keeps records pertaining to daily operations, food production, consumption and inventory.

16. Frequently lifting 25 pounds up to 50 pounds.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES

Ability to assist in preparing and serving food; to read and write; to perform basic arithmetic computations; to operate food service equipment and appliances; to use kitchen utensils; to work in irritating environments and adverse temperature conditions; to follow oral and written instructions; to lift, transport and stock food service supplies, materials and equipment.

 

HIRING RANGE: $18.22 per hour
