Description
The Information Technology Assistant supports, maintains, and updates Loyola Notre Dame Library’s hardware and software, educational technologies, staff computing, and makerspace equipment. This role supports the ongoing maintenance of the Library’s Innovation Station makerspace, creates strong documentation for technical resources, and maintains an inventory of hardware.
The Information Technology Assistant supervises and trains a student Technology Help Desk team and actively participates in strategic technology initiatives.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Supervises 2-4 student assistants
Position Responsibilities:
- Provides general support and maintenance for all staff and library technology, and manages the unit’s Sysaid ticketing system/inventory;
- Becomes an expert user on all makerspace equipment and leads others in the training and use of equipment;
- Maintains makerspace equipment to ensure safe and reliable operation, repairs equipment issues promptly, and escalates issues to the Information Technology Specialist as needed;
- Provides general support for makerspace technology, assisting users with project troubleshooting and best practices, responding to unit communications and escalating issues when needed;
- Provides technology support for onsite events, including workshops, orientations and pop-up classes;
- Manages a student help desk team of 2-4 student assistants;
- Serves on Library and university committees as appointed.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree or;
- Commensurate experience in computer science, makerspace technology, or information technology.
Requirements
- Familiarity with makerspace technologies, equipment, and software;
- Ability to design, develop, and deliver effective training sessions, documentation, workshops, and instructional materials for diverse user groups;
- Proven ability to take initiative and work independently and collaboratively;
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills;
- Strong interpersonal, writing, and communication skills, and the ability to work effectively with diverse groups of people;
- Demonstrated excellent customer service skills when interacting with faculty, staff, students, and community members.
