JOB SUMMARY:

With guidance from the Dir. of RE & Fac. Ops, the Maintenance Technician supports personnel of Chase Brexton Health Care at all locations through maintenance of building and individual departments to keep the physical environment clean, organized and safe.


MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Maintain company facilities, which include, but not limited to, electrical, plumbing, HVAC and painting/wallpaper repairs (such as replacing lights, ballasts, pipes, faucets, water fountains, sinks, toilets and room temperatures). 
  • Repair broken furniture, repair/replace doors, door knobs, locks/keys, carpet/floor tile. 
  • Repair/replace tissue holders, paper dispensers, soap dispensers, hang pictures, bulletin boards, white boards, flag systems, and medical equipment. 
  • Test emergency exit door alarms, emergency lights, exit lights, and fire extinguishers for proper operation and maintain monthly testing and repair reports. 
  • Perform tasks to complete work order requests as assigned. 
  • Use of a computer to obtain job assignments. 
  • This position requires heavy lifting at times, up to 50-100 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10-20 lbs. of force constantly. 
  • Relocate employees and their belongings, move furniture and computer equipment, copiers, etc. 
  • Pick up recycling and shredding. 
  • Hang pictures, assemble and build shelving, assemble lockers and mail carts, etc. 
  • Installation and maintenance of office furniture and systems cubicles by constructing cubicle and installing all components including file cabinets, drawers, locks, lock cylinders, electrical whips and sockets. 
  • Maintain cleanliness and maintenance of outside sidewalk, terrace, loading dock areas and parking garage surrounding facilities at 1111 North Charles Street buildings and other properties leased or owned by the company (including care of outside plants, weeds, and snow removal), which may also include picking up trash, sweeping curb and dumpster areas and maintaining landscaping beds and other areas on the property and in the alley. 
  • General Housekeeping for areas that the cleaning contractor is not responsible for, including the Facilities storage areas, the boiler room, mechanical rooms, penthouse, roof top, loading docks, etc. 
  • Some travel is required between sites; may also be necessary to travel to vendors sites to make purchases. 
  • Responsible for 24-hour emergency maintenance service as scheduled. 
  • Assist with scheduling and monitoring of all work being performed by outside contractors. Serve as back-up to the Facilities Support Specialist by sorting and delivering mail and packages when assistance is needed, or during absence/vacation. Perform other duties as assigned by Dir. of RE & Fac. Ops.


 

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:


  • Assist with general maintenance of the buildings.
  • Able to climb a ladder, reach, stoop, bend, climb, twist, turn, sit and stand in order to perform assigned job duties.
  • Ability to use a computer, calculator, phone, copy machine, and other types of office equipment.
  • Assist with housekeeping, and installation of office systems and furniture.
  • Ability to lift heavy objects (50 lbs.+).
  • General knowledge of commercial plumbing, painting, electrical and HVAC.
  • Familiarity with changing locks and lock cylinders.
  • Ability to work in a high volume fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
  • Must be able to work between the hours of 8:30 AM thru 5:00 PM or 10:30 AM thru 7:00 PM based on assigned shift. This position requires 40 hours per week with occasional overtime. 
  • Must be willing to report to work 24 hours per day and 7 days per week in the event of emergencies. All Facilities staff are on call at all times in the event of an emergency.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Must have access to a vehicle for travel to company locations throughout the mid-Atlantic area. (travel miles are reimbursed by the company)
  • 3-5 years experience in Building Maintenance with experience in electrical, plumbing and painting.


EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • Required: High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Desired: Technical training.
  • Knowledge and ability to use hand tools and power equipment.
  • Required: 3-5 years of basic maintenance.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Work is typically performed in an office environment; some duties required are outside during all seasons.
