We are among the most experienced child-serving organizations. Each year, the agency's continuum of care and hundreds of professional staff help thousands of youths and young adults and their families achieve excel and succeed. We operate public charter and contract schools; special education schools; schools for autism; preschool; treatment foster care; apprenticeships, and pre-career programs.   Role Description: The Receptionist is responsible for extending hospitality to all students and guests who come to the campus and/or communicate by telephone, cell, and/or radio. The Receptionist is responsible to attend to all assigned areas of the program and complete special projects as needed.     Skills/Responsibilities:   Area of Responsibility: Communication   This task is successfully completed when: The switchboard is answered no later than the third ring and calls are successfully directed to the party requested. All Night messages are directed immediately each morning to the appropriate party. Students and guests are directly escorted and/or connected with those they requested. The room reservation system is managed on a daily basis. Participation in building evacuations as directed by policy and as the evacuation dictates occur. All intercom announcements are properly phrased and professionally announced. Medical emergencies are considered the highest priority and are managed immediately. Troubleshooting phone problems occur as necessary. Assures transportation for IEPs and other transportation as needed. Troubleshoots phone problems. Maintains phone extension list.   II. Area of Responsibility: Waiting Area This task is successfully completed when:   All counter items are set up each morning. All venues of the station are dusted weekly and tidied each morning. Special thematic assignments as completed. When the reading materials and brochures are tidy and updated on a daily basis. The video machine is in operation for guests to view in the waiting area after arrival.   III. Area of Responsibility: Hospitality Each guest is offered a beverage and a place to sit down. When staff are immediately notified of a guest’s presence and when staff are reminded when a guest has to wait longer than 5 minutes. When emergencies or student crises are handled as discreetly and professionally as possible. Staff members are discouraged from lingering at the desk.   IV. Area of Responsibility: Miscellaneous This task is successfully completed when: Billing data entry occurs daily or as needed. Special projects, mailers, typing tasks, etc. are completed as requested. Mail and packages are received and distributed to the correct party on a daily basis. When all packages are properly received and distributed. When the evening mail is delivered to the post office each day at the close of business.             QualificationsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. At least 1-2 years working experience in a relevant field; Experience in a school environment ideal; Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel. Database and job-related experience required.   Education and/or Experience High School diploma or equivalent; post-secondary courses in business, office management, bookkeeping and/or office skills; minimum of two years' experience in clerical support positions; experience working in a school system/environment preferred.   Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
