POSTDOCTORAL FELLOW: The Maryland Psychiatric Research Center (MPRC) at the University of Maryland, School of Medicine is recruiting for a Postdoctoral Fellow with expertise in MRS/neuroimaging and brain-behavior research in schizophrenia, led by Dr. Laura Rowland.

The Postdoctoral Fellow will work on MRS/neuroimaging and other research projects focused on understanding brain and behavior, treatment mechanisms, sleep, aging, and women’s health in schizophrenia and related disorders. There will be a strong focus on MRS methods for the detection and quantification of neurotransmitters and bioenergetics. Key functions include MRS/neuroimaging methodology, applications, data processing, statistical analysis, and manuscript write-up.



Qualifications - External
Minimum Qualifications

Education: Ph.D. in psychology, neuroscience, engineering, or related field is required.
Experience: Background in MRS or MRI

Knowledge and Skills

•    Programming skills (ideally MATLAB and/or Python)
•    Strong experience in preprocessing and analysis of brain MRI or MRS 
•    Skills working with big data and statistical analysis a plus
•    Working in Linux environment
•    Problem solving, troubleshooting skills 
•    Track record of scholarship (e.g. publications)
•    Works well in a multidisciplinary and collaborative environment 
•    High motivation and drive 
•    Strong oral and written communication skills
•    Must be interested in translational research focused on severe mental illness

The stipend for Postdoctoral Fellows is competitive and aligned with the number of full years of relevant postdoctoral experience. Relevant experience may include research, teaching, clinical duties, internships, or other work in a health-related field beyond the qualifying doctoral degree. Stipend levels are determined to meet or exceed the current NIH Stipend Levels listed on the website. Postdoctoral Fellows at the University of Maryland also receive a comprehensive benefits package that includes 10 days of annual leave, 15 days of sick leave, 3 personal days, all university-recognized holidays, and may also qualify for additional leave options.
