Overview

Psychologist - Center for Developmental Behavioral Health (DBH)

 

The Psychologist I will provide services utilizing evidence-based/informed treatment models and coordinates care with multi-disciplinary teams focused on the strengths and effective individualized treatment for the patient and their family. The incumbent will maintain a clinical caseload including individual and family psychotherapy, diagnostic assessments, parent training, and, counseling in child development and behavior management. This position will assist parents or caregivers in advocating for their children’s needs in the community and may administer and score psychological tests. Primary clinical responsibilities will be for individuals in early childhood through young adulthood.

Responsibilities

1. Functions as a therapist within the Center for Developmental Behavioral Health (DBH), providing high quality competent care in individual, family, and group therapy formats. This may include cognitive-behavioral therapy, social skills training, psycho-education, crisis-intervention, and other treatment modalities as appropriate to the needs of the patient.2. Conducts evaluations, including diagnostic assessments, and may conduct psychological testing. Selects appropriate measures, scores, and interprets results in formulation for treatment planning and recommendations.3. Develops and implements individualized treatment plans in collaboration with families and members of the patient’s treatment team. Maintains communication with community professionals involved in the patient’s plan of care. 4. Enters reports into the Electronic Health Record System.5. Assists in coordinating needed services and referrals for patients and families including, but not limited to, residential treatment, psychiatric hospitalization, day treatment, in-home services, and school advocacy. 6. Assists the Department Director and Clinical Director in the development of clinical initiatives.7. Participates in meetings with discipline supervisor and program supervisor, clinical trainings, program meetings, case conferences, team meetings, and any other meetings/activities related to direct patient care or Kennedy Krieger Institute/discipline/program operations. 8. Participates in the implementation of innovative programs, methods, and research that contribute to the Center for Developmental Behavioral Health (DBH)  and to the profession.9. Collaborates with faculty and staff within department, throughout the Institute, and at Johns Hopkins University in the implementation of research studies that have a psychological component.10. Maintains familiarity with Maryland state laws as well as the laws and ethical guidelines defined by the credentialing board with respect to patient confidentiality, conflicting interests, reporting of abuse, patient termination, and supervision of psychology associates.11. Maintains Institute productivity and compliance standards.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:• Must possess and maintain licensure as a psychologist in the state of Maryland.• Must obtain and maintain psychology privileges as a specified professional member of the Kennedy Krieger Institute Medical Staff.

 

EDUCATION:• Doctoral degree in Psychology from an American Psychological Association (APA)- or Canadian Psychological Association (CPA)-accredited college or university required.• Completion of APA- or CPA-accredited doctoral internship in professional psychology required.

 

EXPERIENCE:Experience working with a population of children with and without intellectual/neurodevelopmental disabilities and/or psychiatric disorders is required. This experience may be satisfied through predoctoral and/or postdoctoral training in psychology.

Minimum pay range

USD $72,770.26/Yr.

Maximum pay range

USD $129,818.62/Yr.
