Reading Specialist

Jewish Educational Services, a program of The Associated: Jewish Federation of Baltimore, is seeking a part-time Reading Specialist to support their mission by providing early intervention reading support to students in local Jewish Day Schools. This position is in-person 10-12 hours per week.

Key Responsibilities:

• Administer class-wide reading screenings and/or standardized testing, identify students who are at-risk for reading difficulties and share results with school staff.
• Provide research-based reading intervention to individual and small groups of students. 
• Collect and analyze data, providing statistics to JES reading team.
• Work with classroom teachers to guide reading instruction as needed.
• Document student progress in writing and communicate regularly with teachers and parents to update them on progress.
• Participate actively as a Jewish Educational Services team member by promoting the growth and development of the organization and all its programs.

Skills and Qualifications:

• Passion for working with emerging and beginning readers.
• In-depth knowledge of trending topics in Reading Intervention and ability to share that information with relevant school staff. 
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
• Master’s degree in Reading or related field
• Experience in teacher coaching/mentoring
• Experience in planning and delivering professional development on the topic of reading instruction. 
• Able to independently maintain teaching schedule and be on-site at schools at least 90% of the time.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Excel, and Outlook

Compensation & Benefits

Salary: $42.00 to $45.00/hour commensurate with experience
