We are seeking two talented and team-oriented Sr. Research Project Coordinators to oversee the administrative and technical implementation of multiple research projects. As part of the research team, collaborates with faculty to develop project plan(s), develop SOPs, and oversee all research-related activities for one or more complex projects.


The Sr. Research Program Coordinators will collaborate closely with the Center for Tuberculosis and Dr. David Dowdy’s tuberculosis research group in the Department of Epidemiology. The research portfolio includes both global and domestic HIV implementation science studies funded by the NIH and CDC. The Sr. Research Program Coordinators will support the implementation of studies related to: (a) estimating the impact of post-tuberculosis lung disease in rural Uganda; and (b) estimating the cost to patients of developing tuberculosis in the United States.


The Sr. Research Project Coordinator oversees the day-to-day activities of a single complex or multiple research projects and makes independent decisions that impact the conduct of the research. Assists in goal setting and creating implementation plans. Contributes to budget formulation, communications, and data systems.


Specific Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assist Principal Investigator or more senior research staff to ensure operational feasibility of proposed protocol/study design.
  • Develop standard operating procedures and data collection forms based on understanding of underlying study design.
  • Develop or oversee design and implementation of study procedures and tools for data collection, e.g. participant interviews, administer questionnaires; background research, laboratory processing, etc.
  • Ensure compliance with all protocols, procedures, and applicable regulations.
  • Participate in developing study budget.
  • Set up data collection system and ensure validity of study data.
  • Organize and quality control study data.
  • Recommend and implement changes to protocol operations based on results and goals.
  • Conduct literature searches to provide background information.
  • Abstract and index information based on knowledge of subject matter.
  • Other duties as assigned.


In addition to the duties described above

  • Assist with analyses and preparation of scientific manuscripts.
  • Coordinate with community-based organization partners.
  • Track and resolve missing data.
  • Manage participant incentive distribution and retention efforts.
  • Ensure timely completion of project deliverables.
  • Assist with manuscript development for peer-reviewed publication.
  • Produce study reports for funders and stakeholders.


Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field.
  • Three years of related experience.
  • Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education beyond a high school diploma/graduation equivalent, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree in Epidemiology or related field, and/or Degree in Nursing.
  • Extensive experience using REDCap.
  • Experience in research related to tuberculosis and/or health economics.
  • Experience with global health research.
