LMR Technical Group (LMR) is seeking a Sr. Technical Writer for Maintenance Procedure Card (MPC) (ELEX) Developing to join our team.

Job Description:

Position Summary: LMR is seeking a Sr. Technical Writer to develop Maintenance Procedure Cards (MPC) (ELEX). The ideal candidate will utilize their USCG or US Navy practical electronics, electrical systems, and technical writing skills to develop MPCs for the Coast Guard. The purpose of this work is to provide detailed and technically correct MPCs for the equipment related to the ELEX deck.


Job Duties:

  • Process and develop new MPCs ELEX identified on the approved Maintenance Requirement List (MRL).
  • MPC development for equipment related to ELEX to include; Radar, X and S Band general navigation systems, sonar and depth sounding, communication systems (VF, VHF, UHF), and IT systems. 
  • Develop detailed maintenance procedures for required preventive and corrective maintenance tasks.
  • Identify required tools, consumables, expendables, and appropriate cautions and warnings.
  • Standardizing maintenance documentation involves reformatting commercial Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) procedures to align with Coast Guard technical manual structures and readiness requirements.
  • Review drawings for accuracy, provide illustrations and photos for MPC’s (ELEX).
  • Format technical information to align with the approved process and develop clear procedures to conduct required maintenance.
  • Manage, track, maintain, and verify the status of products and/or services.
  • Support the management of repair parts and spares.
  • Perform other duties as required.


Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field.
  • Five (5) years of experience in the field is required to demonstrate your practical expertise and industry readiness.
  • Formal training completion in Maintenance Procedure Card (MPC) development.
  • Five (5) years of engineering experience with operations, testing, maintenance, and repair of Electronic and Weapons Handling Systems and Equipment.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance and meet installation/CAC eligibility requirements. U.S. Citizenship is required for a SECRET clearance. This position may require additional background screening for base access. 
  • Technical documentation preparation for Electronic and Weapons Handling Systems.
  • Development experience in Planned Maintenance System (PMS) performance.
  • Comprehensive technical comprehension of drawings, test specifications, reports, naval messages, and operating procedures is required to ensure documentation is clear and accessible.
  • Familiar with Coast Guard logistics tools…ie, webflis and NESSS.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work well with others.
  • Strong organizational skills and a focus on detail.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite.
  • Comprehensive writing and communication skills and is capable of both verbal and written.
  • Must have a current and valid driver's license to travel to vessels.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • A current, active Secret security clearance is preferred.
  • Coast Guard or Military experience with engineering technician or IT background.
  • Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) trained level I/ II.
  • Preferred experience:
    • Government provisioning, cataloguing, and parts QA experience.
    • 5-9+ years' experience working in a related field.

Expected Salary: $85,000 - $95,000 per year. Salary will be based on job-related knowledge, skills, education, training, certifications and work location.
