As a Service Technician on the Residential team, you will play a critical role in our solar operations. Your responsibilities will include inspecting solar energy systems, performing maintenance tasks, and executing repairs with precision and care. You will ensure system performance, uphold safety standards, and maintain high-quality workmanship. This versatile role is instrumental in supporting system longevity and enhancing the overall efficiency of our solar services.
In this role, you'll get to:
Troubleshoot and resolve issues with customers’ solar systems, including wiring damage, faulty components, inverter or microinverter failures, and performance concerns
Perform roof-related service work, including leak detection, roof repairs, resealing, flashing upgrades, and waterproofing to maintain system integrity
Complete solar removal and reinstall (R&R) projects as needed for roof repairs or system upgrades, ensuring proper documentation and system performance upon reinstallation
Install critter guards and other protective measures to safeguard solar systems from wildlife and environmental damage
Replace or repair solar components such as microinverters, optimizers, and modules according to manufacturer specifications and company standards
Install, commission, and troubleshoot solar battery systems (e.g., energy storage solutions) to ensure safe and efficient operation
Install electrical service equipment, wiring, and devices in compliance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and local regulations
Maintain a clean, organized, and stocked work vehicle with necessary materials, tools, and safety equipment
Support jobsite operations, including material staging, site preparation, and post-job cleanup
Document all work performed, including job reports, photos, material usage, and system performance notes
Deliver excellent customer service, ensuring clear communication and a positive experience during troubleshooting, maintenance, or repair visits
Follow all company safety procedures and maintain a safe work environment for yourself, teammates, and customers
Assist with new system installations and other service tasks as needed to support company operations
Perform other related duties as assigned to ensure the success of each project and uphold company standards
On your first day, we'll expect you to have:Â
Minimum 2+ years of experience in solar, roofing, or a related field
Experience performing troubleshooting, maintenance, and minor repairs on residential solar equipment (Preferred)
Ability to perform roof-related service work, including leak detection, roof repairs, resealing, flashing upgrades, and waterproofing
Ability to diagnose and resolve field issues efficiently and independently
Ability to read and interpret basic plans, manuals, and installation documents is preferred
Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage service calls and document work accurately
Proficiency in safely handling power and hand tools, as well as materials such as ladders, inverters, solar panels, panel boards, batteries, lumber, and roofing materials
Capability to climb ladders, work on sloped roofs in all weather conditions, and stand for extended periods
Experience and comfort working in attics and confined spaces
Ability to lift 75 pounds repeatedly
Must be proficient in the use of smartphones and tablets, utilizing them effectively for communication, accessing job-related apps and software, documenting work progress, and staying connected with team members and supervisors as required
Proven track record of reliable attendance
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Dedication to maintaining the highest safety standards on every job
Position requires passing a drug screening and background check
A valid driver’s license is required for all positions at Lumina
