Reporting into the Maintenance Manager, the Maintenance Supervisor will be based out of Baltimore, MD and will be responsible for will play crucial role in ensuring the effective maintenance and operation of our plant equipment, buildings, and facilities in a unionized environment. This role requires strong leadership skills, technical expertise, and the ability to work collaboratively with both hourly maintenance employees and instrumentation technicians.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise Maintenance Technicians: Directly oversee and coordinate the activities of hourly maintenance employees, including technicians, electricians, and instrumentation technicians, ensuring that work is performed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with established procedures and guidelines.

  • Planned and Preventive Maintenance: Develop and implement strategies for planned and preventive maintenance of plant equipment, buildings, and facilities. Ensure that maintenance schedules are adhered to and that all equipment is properly maintained to minimize downtime and maximize operational efficiency.

  • Compliance and Safety: Enforce compliance with all safety regulations, company policies, and procedures. Conduct regular safety inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and ensure that corrective actions are taken promptly. Promote a culture of safety awareness and continuous improvement among maintenance staff.

  • Continuous Improvement: Work closely with salaried instrumentation technicians to support continuous improvement initiatives within operations. Identify opportunities for process optimization, efficiency gains, and cost savings, and lead efforts to implement innovative solutions.

  • Union Relations: Foster positive working relationships with union representatives and ensure compliance with collective bargaining agreements. Address any employee concerns or grievances in a timely and constructive manner, seeking to resolve issues through open communication and collaboration.

Required Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in maintenance supervision, preferably in a chemical manufacturing or industrial setting.

  • Familiarity with unionized work environments and collective bargaining agreements.

  • Excellent problem solving skills.

Preferred Experience

  • Degree in Engineering, Maintenance Management, or related field preferred.

  • Strong knowledge of safety regulations, environmental standards, and maintenance best practices.

  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire team members.

  • Proficiency in developing and implementing maintenance strategies, SOPs, and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Solid understanding of budget management principles and experience in managing maintenance budgets.
