Job Duties

• Demonstrates the required knowledge and technical skills to independently perform core and specialty procedures.
• Anticipates the expected progression of events and modifies the plan accordingly.
• Demonstrates an increased level of prioritization.
• Possesses knowledge of multiple types of equipment.
• Possesses knowledge of contents of instrument trays in at least one service.
• Follows Mercy's safety guidelines, carries out job-specific safety duties and responsibilities, and promptly reports any unsafe conditions, situations, incidents and injuries.

Department Specific Duties

OR

• Professionally guides RN circulators in their role and functions as second circulator.
• Serves as orientation assistant for Level I Tech and models positive behavior.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Must meet Level I criteria
• Demonstrates knowledge of techniques used by various surgeons for various procedures
• Maintains technical skill level and adapts to changes in surgical technique and operative intervention modalities.
• Demonstrates a constructive approach during all interactions with staff and nurse manager toward the organization
• Completes work assignments on time/readily accepts assignments, as observed by nurse manager

Education

• Graduate of a Surgical Technology Program or equivalent experience required.

Licensure, Certification, Registration

• Currently certified in Basic Cardiac Life Support in accordance with the American Heart Association required.
