As Maintenance Personnel, your primary goal is to ensure that all homes, equipment, and grounds are safe, clean, and well-maintained to support the health, safety, and comfort of residents.

The following are part of your job duties:

  • Perform general building maintenance including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and minor repairs.
  • Conduct routine inspections of facilities to ensure compliance with safety, health, and licensing standards.
  • Maintain heating, cooling, ventilation, and other essential systems as assigned.
  • Ensure outdoor areas (lawns, walkways, driveways, etc.) are safe and well-kept.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests from staff or management.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and supplies in a safe, organized manner.
  • Assist with fire and safety drills; ensure emergency exits and equipment remain functional.
  • Document all repairs, inspections, and maintenance activities as required.
  • Collaborate with the Maintenance Director and outside vendors for larger repairs or specialized work.
  • Uphold confidentiality and respect the privacy and dignity of residents.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation for after-hours maintenance emergencies.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • High school diploma or equivalent (required).
  • Experience in general maintenance, repair work, or related field (preferred).
  • Knowledge of plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and use of tools/equipment.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physically demanding tasks.
  • Valid driver's license, verified through the State of Michigan.
  • Must pass background checks as required by state licensing.

PREFERRED SKILLS

  • Previous experience in adult foster care, healthcare, or residential maintenance.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Good communication skills and attention to detail.
