Occupational Therapist (OT) Responsibilities
- Provide school-based occupational therapy services to middle school students
- Conduct occupational therapy evaluations and assessments
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals and services
- Deliver direct therapy services (individual and small group)
- Support students with:
- Fine motor skills and handwriting
- Sensory processing and sensory integration
- Executive functioning and organization
- Activities of daily living (ADLs) and school participation
- Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, speech-language pathologists (SLPs), and physical therapists (PTs)
- Recommend and implement classroom accommodations, adaptive equipment, and assistive technology
- Participate in IEP meetings and multidisciplinary team discussions
- Maintain accurate documentation, progress notes, and compliance records
- Communicate with families and caregivers regarding student progress
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Occupational Therapy
- Active Maine Occupational Therapist license (or eligibility)
- Interest or experience in pediatrics, school-based therapy, or special education preferred
- Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills
