About the Role

The Production Superintendent is responsible for leading operational activities and performance for a production department at Teel. The Production Superintendent provides leadership to the entire production team for the department, including superintendent or supervisors, leads, process engineers, and production staff. Carrying out the daily production plan and manufacturing activities related to Safety, Training, Quality, LEAN/Six Sigma Manufacturing. Responsible for analyzing and taking action based on the results of the shift recap data and related KPI’s. Responsible for making process improvement recommendations in order to meet the CAPEX requirements and help drive Continuous Improvement activities. Responsible for Performance Management and training for the hourly employees.

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Actively on the manufacturing floor 30-40% of the time driving manufacturing best practices across the department, with focus on safety and training leadership.
  • Works with management and support personnel to establish company strategies, policies & procedures to support the company goals and objectives.
  • Management of the front-line supervision.
  • Proactively addresses performance problems and complete performance evaluations and other performance management documents on time.
  • Establish and execute training plans and provide training plans and training resource needs for all employees.
  • Oversee and manage department staffing and training needs.
  • Conducts interviews and actively participates in the hiring process.
  • Oversees the process of identifying and completing corrective actions on time & on budget.
  • Ensures product is delivered on time and within BOM allotments at quality levels expected by our customers.
  • Assists in the development and execution of the annual departmental budget.
  • Recommends CAPEX & C.I. initiatives to be completed through data analysis to the business.
  • Supports a 5S, housekeeping, and visual management systems on the shop floor.
  • Oversees the creation and posting of visual manufacturing metrics and performance.
  • Leads and participates within LEAN improvement teams, as necessary.
  • Support and facilitate daily execution of the Production Plan /schedule and manufacturing activities
  • Ensures additional resources needed to support manufacturing are available and delay time is minimized.
  • Leads safety activities to provide a safe, clean, and positive work environment, performing safety audits and ensure the team’s participation in programs.
  • Assists in creating and revising safety procedures and injury reporting and accident investigation.
  • Participates on Safety Committees & improvements as appropriate.
  • Oversees the daily execution of the production schedule.
  • Supports operations planning in establishing schedules that make the best use of Teel’s resources, including staffing, equipment, materials, and maintenance.
  • Maintains an operating model that supports efficient, smart use of resources including shift structure and asset utilization for safe and high-quality operations.
  • Participates in MRB/NCM meetings and provide additional feedback on recommended solutions.
  • Additional project as assigned by supervisor.

What You Need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in management with emphasis in a manufacturing or technical discipline or relevant experience.
  • 5 or more years of experience successfully supervision and coaching employees in a manufacturing or production environment required.
  • Leadership, change management and driving performance metrics in a manufacturing environment required.
  • Experience in team building, problem solving, and strong communication skills is critical.
  • Formalized training and certification withing LEAN/Six-Sigma preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal/written communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a can-do attitude.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task.
  • Strong communications skills (verbal and written) with ability to create strong relationships.
  • Proficient at using technology for work processes.
