We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Mechanic to support our manufacturing operations through the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of production equipment and facility systems.

This role is ideal for a hands-on technician with strong electrical and mechanical skills, including experience with PLC systems, ladder logic, VFDs, hydraulic systems, and pneumatic systems. You will take ownership of maintenance activities, support continuous production, perform preventive maintenance, and help ensure the safe and efficient operation of plant equipment.

In addition to equipment maintenance, this position assists with facility upkeep, including basic plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, painting, and grounds maintenance.

The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to safety, problem-solving, and teamwork while working independently with minimal supervision when needed.

Key Responsibilities

Electrical Maintenance

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain electrical control systems
  • Program, modify, and troubleshoot PLC systems and ladder logic
  • Service CNC/NC controls, control circuits, electro-mechanical systems, hydraulic systems, and pneumatic systems
  • Perform maintenance and repairs on plant electrical distribution systems
  • Research and identify replacement electrical components and parts
  • Install conduit, wiring, relays, and motor control systems

Equipment Maintenance & Repair

  • Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical equipment failures
  • Repair and maintain machinery according to manufacturer specifications and maintenance procedures
  • Disassemble equipment to diagnose issues and replace defective components
  • Assemble, test, and verify proper equipment operation
  • Perform basic fabrication and equipment repairs

Preventive Maintenance

  • Execute preventive maintenance programs for production equipment
  • Lubricate and maintain machinery to ensure safe and reliable operation
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation

Equipment Installation & Upgrades

  • Install new equipment and machinery
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings
  • Assist with equipment upgrades and process improvements
  • Install and maintain air, water, hydraulic, and electrical systems

Facility Maintenance

  • Maintain building systems and grounds
  • Perform basic plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, and painting tasks
  • Assist with snow removal and facility projects as needed

Safety & Compliance

  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures
  • Adhere to Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) requirements
  • Properly handle hazardous materials and waste
  • Participate in safety, department, and company meetings
  • Assist with SOP development and employee training when needed

Team Support

  • Provide mentorship and guidance to maintenance team members
  • Support cross-training initiatives and continuous improvement efforts

Qualifications

Required

  • Associate degree in Electromechanical Technology or related field, completion of an apprenticeship program, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of industrial maintenance experience
  • Strong electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic troubleshooting experience
  • Experience with PLC troubleshooting and programming (Allen-Bradley preferred)
  • Experience with Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs)
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and blueprints
  • Experience with motor controls, relays, terminations, and control wiring
  • Strong understanding of AC and DC motor drive systems
  • Proficiency using electrical testing equipment such as multimeters, amp meters, and oscilloscopes
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment
  • Valid Pennsylvania driver's license

Preferred

  • Experience leading maintenance projects or mentoring team members
  • Experience with major equipment upgrades and control system revisions
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel

Work Environment

This position operates within a manufacturing environment and may involve:

  • Exposure to loud noise, dust, fumes, and temperature fluctuations
  • Working around moving machinery and industrial equipment
  • Exposure to compressed air, steam, and industrial utilities
  • Use of required personal protective equipment (PPE), including:
    • Safety glasses
    • Steel-toe or composite-toe footwear
    • Hearing protection

Physical Requirements

  • Stand and walk for extended periods
  • Frequently bend, climb, stoop, reach, push, pull, and lift
  • Lift up to 50 pounds regularly and up to 130 pounds occasionally
  • Use hand and power tools safely and effectively
  • Maintain manual dexterity required to operate equipment and perform repairs
  • Communicate effectively regarding maintenance, safety, and operational concerns
  • Maintain attention to detail in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
