Appalachian Children's Home is seeking a compassionate and experienced Child Care Director to oversee the daily operations of our child care and residential programs. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring a safe, nurturing, and structured environment for children while supervising staff, maintaining program quality, and ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations. This role requires strong leadership, excellent organizational skills, and a passion for supporting the well-being and development of children.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily operations of the child care and residential programs.

  • Supervise, train, and support child care staff to ensure high-quality care.

  • Develop and implement programs that support children’s emotional, behavioral, and developmental needs.

  • Ensure compliance with state licensing requirements and organizational policies.

  • Maintain a safe, structured, and supportive environment for children.

  • Collaborate with counselors, educators, and support staff to provide comprehensive care.

  • Manage scheduling, staffing, and program planning.

  • Communicate effectively with families, staff, and community partners.

  • Monitor program performance and implement improvements when needed.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Child Development, Social Work, Psychology, Education, or a related field (Master’s preferred).

  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in child care, youth services, or residential care.

  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred.

  • Strong understanding of child development and behavioral management.

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

  • Ability to pass background checks and child protection clearances.
