Appalachian Children's Home is seeking a compassionate and experienced Child Care Director to oversee the daily operations of our child care and residential programs. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring a safe, nurturing, and structured environment for children while supervising staff, maintaining program quality, and ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations. This role requires strong leadership, excellent organizational skills, and a passion for supporting the well-being and development of children.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee daily operations of the child care and residential programs.
Supervise, train, and support child care staff to ensure high-quality care.
Develop and implement programs that support children’s emotional, behavioral, and developmental needs.
Ensure compliance with state licensing requirements and organizational policies.
Maintain a safe, structured, and supportive environment for children.
Collaborate with counselors, educators, and support staff to provide comprehensive care.
Manage scheduling, staffing, and program planning.
Communicate effectively with families, staff, and community partners.
Monitor program performance and implement improvements when needed.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Child Development, Social Work, Psychology, Education, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
Minimum 3–5 years of experience in child care, youth services, or residential care.
Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
Strong understanding of child development and behavioral management.
Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Ability to pass background checks and child protection clearances.
