Pepper's corporate office is looking for anĀ Accounting Specialist to join our growing accounting team based in our Barrington, IL office. There is opportunity to work one day remote/week.

This role is ideal for someone with a solid accounting foundation who enjoys digging into details, resolving issues, and supporting critical financial processes. You'll work across accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger reconciliations, and electronic payment systems while helping drive efficiency through technology and process improvements.

As our business continues to evolve, we've invested in modern accounting tools, automated workflows, and electronic payment platforms. We're looking for someone who is comfortable learning new systems, embraces change, and isn't afraid to roll up their sleeves when challenges arise.

What You'll Do

  • Process and analyze accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions.
  • Perform general ledger account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.
  • Research and troubleshoot invoice, payment, and accounting issues.
  • Work closely with project teams, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Process electronic payments and manage cash receipt activity.
  • Ensure transactions comply with internal controls and company policies.
  • Support ongoing process improvements and technology initiatives.
  • Assist with special projects and month-end accounting activities.

What We're Looking For

  • 2+ years of accounting, AP, AR, bookkeeping, or related accounting experience.
  • Strong Excel skills and confidence working with financial data.
  • Experience using accounting software or ERP systems.
  • A proactive, resourceful, and problem-solving mindset.
  • Ability to thrive in a high-volume environment with competing priorities.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Accounting education is helpful, but practical accounting experience is most important.
