Job DetailsJob Location: Bartow, FL 33830Position Summary The Geotechnical Project Manager (PM) is responsible for the hands-on management and delivery of geotechnical engineering projects from initiation through completion. This role combines technical involvement, field coordination, staff mentoring, and project administration to ensure work is performed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and in compliance with applicable standards and contract requirements. This position is intended for a beginning to mid-level PM with strong technical fundamentals and growing leadership capability. Key Responsibilities Project Management & Delivery Manage assigned geotechnical projects including scope, schedule, staffing, and coordination. Serve as day-to-day project lead and primary point of contact for internal teams and clients. Coordinate field activities including drilling, CPTs, test pits, sampling, and construction-related support. Track project progress and budgets; prepare and submit accurate monthly invoices. Identify scope changes and support preparation of supplemental service requests. Technical Involvement Prepare and/or review geotechnical engineering analyses and reports (foundations, earthwork, pavement support, slope stability, etc.). Review subsurface exploration data, boring logs, laboratory results, and calculations for accuracy and completeness. Ensure work complies with applicable standards and specifications (ASTM, AASHTO, FDOT, USACE, local agencies). Provide practical, constructible recommendations consistent with project needs and risk profile. Staff Leadership & Mentoring Provide day-to-day direction and mentoring to entry-level and junior engineers. Coordinate work assignments and review technical deliverables prepared by staff. Support staff development through guidance, feedback, and technical oversight. Field & Laboratory Coordination Maintain close coordination with drilling crews, field technicians, and laboratory staff. Participate in site visits as needed to support investigations and resolve field issues. Ensure field documentation and data collection meet project and QA/QC requirements. Quality, Safety & Compliance Execute projects in accordance with company QA/QC procedures. Promote safe work practices for field and office activities. Ensure proper documentation, reporting, and project closeout. Qualifications  Required Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Geotechnical Engineering focus. Master’s preferred. Professional Engineer (PE) license. 4–8 years of geotechnical engineering experience with increasing project responsibility. Experience with geotechnical investigations, field exploration methods, and report preparation. Ability to manage multiple active projects in a fast-paced environment. Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills. Physical & Field Requirements Ability to perform periodic site visits to active construction and drilling sites. Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions as required. Performance Expectations Projects delivered on time, within scope, and in compliance with technical and contractual requirements. Accurate and timely invoicing and project documentation. Effective coordination with field, lab, and engineering staff. Positive mentorship and technical development of junior engineers.
