Fire Sprinkler Service Supervisor

Position Summary

The Fire Sprinkler Service Supervisor oversees and coordinates the activities of service technicians performing inspections, testing, maintenance, and repairs on fire sprinkler and related water-based fire protection systems. This role ensures projects are completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with NFPA standards, local codes, and company policies. The supervisor provides technical expertise, leadership, and customer support while maintaining high performance and safety standards within the team.
 

Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Management

  • Direct, schedule, and oversee daily activities of fire sprinkler service technicians.
  • Provide technical guidance and assist with troubleshooting complex issues in the field.
  • Conduct jobsite visits, quality checks, and performance evaluations.
  • Mentor and train technicians to enhance skills, safety awareness, and productivity.
 

Service Operations Oversight

  • Assign service work orders, monitor progress, and ensure deadlines are met.
  • Coordinate emergency service coverage and on-call rotations.
  • Review service reports for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with company standards.
  • Ensure availability of required tools, equipment, and materials for field operations.
 

Quality Assurance & Compliance

  • Ensure work meets NFPA 25 and other applicable standards, as well as local codes. ● Maintain accurate documentation of inspections, deficiencies, and repair work.
  • Promote strict adherence to OSHA safety requirements and company safety protocols.
 

Customer Relations

  • Serve as the primary point of escalation for customer concerns or technical issues.
  • Communicate inspection results, service recommendations, and repair needs clearly to customers.
  • Partner with sales or estimating teams to develop accurate proposals for repairs or system upgrades.
 

Administrative & Reporting

  • Maintain technician schedules, timekeeping records, and project tracking reports.
  • Monitor key performance indicators such as completion rates, call-backs, and customer satisfaction.
  • Provide management with regular updates on service department performance.
 
 

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Fire Protection, Construction Management, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of fire sprinkler service experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or lead technician role.
 

Certifications

  • NICET Level II or higher in Inspection & Testing of Water-Based Systems preferred.
  • State-issued fire sprinkler license (if applicable).
  • OSHA 30 or equivalent safety certification desirable.
 

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of NFPA 25 and related fire protection standards.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, piping layouts, and technical specifications.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and customer service skills. ● Skilled in troubleshooting and problem-solving.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and service management software.
 
 

Physical & Work Environment Requirements

  • Ability to lift 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work at heights or in confined spaces.
  • Work in various environments including active construction sites, industrial facilities, and occupied buildings.
  • Willingness to travel to job sites and occasionally work overtime as needed.
