Summary:Â
The Automation Technician is responsible for planning repair methods, installing equipment, performing preventive maintenance on equipment, repairing equipment as required in order to support the production department. This employee is able to diagnose problems and accurately estimate the amount of time and the equipment required to perform a repair.

Responsibilities: Â
- Install, maintain, and repair production equipment.
- Plan maintenance and repair procedures. This will include power, electric, and electronic control. Diagnose problems. Determine what repairs are required and what equipment, supplies, and skills are needed to complete the repairs.
- Estimate labor required for assigned repairs.
- Requisition or make components for assigned repairs.
- Operate machine tools as required to install and repair equipment.
- Assist with the development of a preventive maintenance (PM) program.Â
- Suggest PM schedules for equipment and assist with implementing the plan.
- Document all work in a neat and legible manner. Ensure that all documents are kept in accordance with department procedures.
- Demonstrate good communication skills with other maintenance technicians and with production supervisors.
- Stay informed of new technology, methods, and materials within the field.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma plus technical courses preferred.
- Strong mechanical skills
- Some manufacturing, mechanical and/or automation maintenance experience requiredÂ
- Strong written and verbal communication skills

This is a physically active position in a manufacturing facility. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, climb stairs, stoop, kneel, effectively communicate with others, and use active listening skills. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. He or she will occasionally be required to work 25 feet in the air on scaffolding or high-lifts. Vision ability requirements for this job include close vision, distance vision, and depth perception. This is a full time position. However, due to variations in production schedules, this employee may be asked to work additional hours, including weekends, to meet additional demands.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be in a manufacturing facility. This will have variations in temperature and humidity seasonally, most notably in summer. Noise level is moderate for an injection molding facility. This employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. Safety procedures must be followed to avoid the risk of electrical shock. Safety equipment will be worn regularly. Some travel to outside vendors may be required.

The Anticipated Pay Range for This Position:Â $23.00-$35.00 hourly
