Position Summary:

The Industrial Engineer is responsible for plant layout, work cell configuration, assembly methods, work instructions, and maintenance of the engineering database.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Draw and modify drawings of production areas using a two-dimensional CAD drawing.
  • Drawings will include machine and production line placement and will need to be kept updated when there are production area changes.
  • Work with Design Engineers, Automation Engineers, Quality Assurance Manager, Facilities Manager, and Production Manager to develop work cell layout, production line layout, and assembly methods.
  • Layouts and assembly methods must include safety, ergonomics, product quality, cost effectiveness, and space use.
  • Create and maintain all work instructions for the manufacturing floor and develop new methods in collaboration with the manufacturing team.
  • Generate and maintain product routing on the computer system and ensure each product has an accurate routing available.
  • Generate and maintain BOMs and item master data records.
  • Be a member of the cross departmental Pack Team and focus on labor, equipment, and production process issues during packaging development.
  • Perform operation analysis on all production methods to determine labor efficiency and suggest improvements.
  • Document and distribute to the production departments and to the organizational development department.
  • Use formats that can be converted to work instructions and lesson plans, and update sheets as necessary.
  • Develop and lead training classes for production supervisors and trainers on new production methods.
  • Lead informational meetings with production and quality management to review new production layouts and operation analysis forms.
  • Stay informed of new technology, methods, and materials within the field.
  • Support and comply with all Suncast safety policies, quality standards, and housekeeping practices.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering or a related discipline with 1-3 years of experience.
  • In lieu of the above, an Associate’s degree in Industrial Engineering or a related discipline with 5+ years of experience is acceptable.
  • Demonstrated time management skills and ability to manage/prioritize multiple projects and resources.
  • High degree of computer literacy.
  • Basic knowledge of MRP software.
  • Strong understanding of two-dimensional CAD methods, preferably with AutoCAD.
  • Ability to learn specialized programs for processes such as packaging evaluation, Time Study software, Suncast specific MRP software, and others.
  • Knowledge and experience using Microsoft Office, specifically for file management methods, spreadsheets, and using features such as complex formulas and graphing.
  • AS400 experience is a plus.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 20 pounds.

The Anticipated Pay Range for This Position:  $75K-85K annually.
