Job Title: Production Single Pass Mig Welder

Location: Batavia, Ohio

Department: Weld

Sign-on bonus: $2500

Tape Measure & Weld Test REQUIRED

All weld candidates will complete a weld test, written weld test, tape measure test, and interview process, which typically takes approximately 1 to 1.5 hours to complete. WELD TEST

REQUIREMENT: Candidates should understand what a pressurized weld test is prior to interviewing, as this is not a standard AWS weld test.

Starting Base Rate: $24

The Weld Department utilizes MIG welding and is a critical part of the manufacturing process for generator enclosure fuel tanks and assemblies that support large-scale generators. Welders perform both continuous and stitch welding on 10-gauge mild steel that is up to 1/4" thick while building assigned assemblies from blueprints, drawings, and work instructions.

Because these tanks contain diesel fuel, weld quality is essential to prevent leaks and ensure structural integrity. After fabrication, tanks are pressure tested to 3 PSI and vacuum tested to verify there are no leaks, weak points, or weld defects.

The role also involves crane and ladder work during fabrication and assembly processes. Proper welding and testing procedures are essential to product reliability, environmental safety, and overall equipment performance.

We typically weld at 25 volts with a wire speed between 500–550 with consistent welds to successfully pass pressure and vacuum testing without leaks.

This is not the only type of welding performed in the Weld Department. Welders are also expected to complete 1G (horizontal) and 3G (vertical) welding applications.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:

  • Perform welding on mild carbon steel and structural steel using GMAW (MIG) and FCAW methods.
  • Must be capable of welding in flat, horizontal, and vertical positions and creating fillet or butt weld joints.
  • Utilize basic welding equipment and hand tools such as grinders, cut-off wheels, and magnetic drills.
  • Conduct equipment checks to ensure optimal performance.
  • Accurately read and interpret measurements using a tape measure. (test will be required)
  • Ability to follow detailed blueprints and work instructions to complete welding projects as per specifications.
  • Follow all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and others. Adhere to all workplace safety standards.
  • Successfully complete required welding tests to demonstrate skills and meet job qualifications.
  • Be willing to assist with other related tasks in different departments as needed.
  • Lift and maneuver metal components, ensuring safe and efficient handling of materials (up to 50 lbs. minimum).
