JOB SUMMARY:     Post patient charges, includes checking coding, ABN documentation, and verification of patient demographics.  Posts Payments.  Files appeals when necessary and assists in determining final claim status. Maintains accurate count of collections received each day.  Maintain daily count of physician, procedure, nursing home, hospital and nurse visits.

 

 

Job Duties: 

 

  1.  Submits claims to accounts as appropriate.
  2.  Submits claims to carriers and intermediaries as appropriate.
  3.  Checks coding to insure accuracy and medical necessity.
  4.  Insures information is appropriate for client or insurance billing.
  5.  Assists in follow-up on payment and billing errors.
  6.  Send medical records requested by insurance companies.
  7.  Send monthly deposit reports to accounting.
  8.  Fill out paperwork for patient/insurance refunds.
  9.  Help answer the phone and make appointments.
  10.  Perform other duties as assigned by supervision.
  11. Other duties as assigned by Director associated with clinic specialty.

 

Qualifications:  

 

  1. Education: High school diploma/GED   
  2. Training and Experience: Certifications as needed/required

Job Knowledge:   Must demonstrate consistent professional conduct and meticulous attention to detail. Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as excellent interpersonal skills with patients, staff, and other health care professionals. Familiarity with EMR systems a plus. 

 

Essentials:

  1. Must be able to report to work fit for duty and free of any adverse effects of illegal drugs, medical marijuana, prescription medication, and/or alcohol.  
  2. Must be able to effectively communicate both orally and in writing with other individuals. 

 

 

Physical Demands:  The individual must be able to bend over to perform certain duties.   Interpretation of environmental input requires visual and auditory skills.  A significant amount of writing and computer entry is required.
