Research & Development (R&D) Compliance Specialist
Position Summary:
The R&D Compliance Specialist is responsible for ensuring that all research, design, and product development activities meet applicable regulatory, safety, and internal compliance standards. This role partners closely with Engineering, Quality, and Manufacturing teams to support the development of innovative products while maintaining full compliance with industry regulations and company policies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure all R&D activities comply with applicable federal, state, and local regulations (e.g., ANI/ISO)Â
- Review product designs, materials, and specifications to confirm compliance with safety and environmental requirementsÂ
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation for product testing, certifications, and approvalsÂ
- Support product validation and testing processes to ensure compliance prior to production releaseÂ
- Assist in internal and external audits, including preparation of required documentation and responsesÂ
- Monitor and interpret changes in regulatory requirements and communicate impacts to relevant teamsÂ
- Partner with Engineering and Quality to address compliance risks and implement corrective actionsÂ
- Participate in new product development meetings to ensure compliance is integrated early in the design processÂ
- Develop and maintain compliance procedures, checklists, and best practicesÂ
- Support incident investigations related to product compliance or safety concerns

Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Health & Safety, Quality, or a related field preferredÂ
- 2–5 years of experience in compliance, quality, or R&D within a manufacturing environmentÂ
Knowledge & Skills:
- Working knowledge of regulatory standards such as ANI/ISO and applicable manufacturing guidelinesÂ
- Strong understanding of product testing, validation, and documentation processesÂ
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skillsÂ
- Ability to interpret technical data and regulatory requirementsÂ
- Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departmentsÂ
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and documentation systems

Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in outdoor power equipment, automotive, or heavy manufacturingÂ
- Familiarity with ISO standards (ISO 9001, etc.)Â
- Experience supporting audits and regulatory inspections
Work Environment
- Manufacturing and office settingÂ
- Exposure to production areas, equipment, and testing environmentsÂ
- May require occasional lifting, standing, and walking through production facilities
