Position Title: Maintenance Engineer

About the Role:

The Maintenance Engineer provides engineering support to the plant’s Maintenance function. Plan and execute capital investment projects in terms of capital expense budget approval, design, cost and timely completion while ensuring the optimum reliability and efficiency of the projects. Assist with the coordination and implementation of process improvements and optimization of all plant equipment. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Exhibit knowledge of and ensure compliance with all safety regulations. Actively participate in regular safety training, safety topic meetings and task training, complete as directed. Perform area inspections and accident investigations as required. Cooperate with all external inspectors as necessary.
  • Responsible for engineering projects throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Develop project scopes, budgets, schedules, and resource plans. Coordinate design, procurement, construction, installation, and commissioning activities. Monitor project progress and provide regular status updates to management.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards. Review engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documents. Evaluate and select contractors, suppliers, and equipment vendors. Conduct feasibility studies, risk assessments, and cost-benefit analyses.
  • Lead project meetings and coordinate cross-functional teams. Identify and resolve technical issues and project risks. Manage change orders and maintain accurate project documentation. Verify project deliverables meet operational and performance requirements. Support continuous improvement initiatives and capital investment projects.
  • Assume call responsibility in accordance with the weekly call schedule and fill in during vacation, illness, or any other unforeseen event for the department, as requested.
  • Perform engineering studies related to day-to-day operations and capital projects, including preparation of mechanical drawings, research, and communication with vendors.

Qualifications:

  • 4-year degree in mechanical, civil, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Minimum three years of experience in heavy industry.
  • Experience and knowledge in cement facilities and equipment, preferred.
  • Basic and theoretical knowledge of plant and/or project engineering.
  • Effective communications skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Able to successfully interact in a team environment.
  • Working knowledge of SAP.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • CAD experience preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Able to physically inspect plant properties where climbing steps, ladders and physical exertion is required.
  • Able to wear all required MSHA safety equipment, and proper wear and use of respirator use, when required.
  • Able to work in dusty, noisy, high temperature environments, at high elevations and in all weather conditions.
  • An understanding of, and commitment to, the highest standards for industrial workplace safety, environmental compliance, dependability, and professional workmanship is essential.
