PHYSICAL THERAPIST

Mozaic (A Chapter of The Arc NY) is seeking a compassionate and skilled Physical Therapist to provide services to children with developmental disabilities in a school-based setting at Keuka Lake School. This role focuses on assessing gross motor needs and delivering individualized therapy to help children build strength, coordination, mobility, and independence in both educational and everyday activities.

PAY RANGE: $60k-$70k

LOCATION: Penn Yan & Bath, NY

SCHEDULE: Monday-Friday 7:30 am - 3:30 pm

PHYSICAL THERAPIST DUTIES

The Physical Therapist provides therapy to children with physical and developmental challenges, both individually and in small groups. They conduct assessments to evaluate gross motor function, mobility, and postural control, and use those findings to create and implement individualized treatment plans that align with each child's educational goals and functional needs.

Working closely with a multidisciplinary team, the Physical Therapist contributes to the development of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and actively participates in team meetings to ensure coordinated care. They collaborate with teachers, classroom staff, and other therapists to support motor development within classroom routines and throughout the school day.

The Physical Therapist also works directly with families and caregivers, offering education and strategies to promote movement and independence at home and in community settings. In some cases, they assist in identifying and recommending adaptive equipment or environmental modifications to support safety and participation.

In addition to direct services, the Physical Therapist helps train school staff on positioning, mobility strategies, and physical supports that align with therapy goals. They also serve as an advocate for the physical well-being of each child, ensuring they have the tools and supports needed to access their environment as independently as possible.

QUALIFICATIONS

Licensed and currently registered as a Physical Therapist by the NYS Education Department. Experience working with children with developmental disabilities is strongly preferred. Pediatric or school-based therapy experience is a plus.
