About Helix Aviation Academy: Helix Aviation Academy is a STEM-focused, public charter school within the Helix Community Schools network, dedicated to empowering students through rigorous academics, real-world learning, and innovative technology integration.
Position Overview: The 1st Grade Teacher will be responsible for creating and implementing engaging lesson plans aligned with curriculum standards, fostering a safe and positive classroom environment, and supporting the academic and emotional growth of each student. The ideal candidate will bring enthusiasm, creativity, and a deep commitment to early childhood education.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver standards-based lessons in reading, writing, math, science, and social studies
- Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs and styles
- Assess student progress regularly and communicate results with parents and guardians
- Create a warm, respectful, and inclusive classroom culture
- Collaborate with grade-level teams, support staff, and administration
- Integrate technology and innovative teaching practices into daily instruction
- Participate in professional development and school community events
Additional Expectations:
- All staff are expected to sponsor one club or Enrichment during school hours when scheduled. Additional pay is not provided as this is a part of every teacher's job role.
- All teachers who teach at Helix Community Schools will be expected to constantly grow in the use of technology to enhance student learning because we are a part of Verizon Innovative Learning Schools and genuinely believe in digital equity for our students.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field (Master's preferred)
- Valid state teaching certification for elementary education
- Minimum of 3 years of full-time teaching experience, preferably in a 1st grade or early elementary classroom
- Strong knowledge of child development and early literacy/numeracy best practices
- Excellent classroom management, communication, and organizational skills
- Passion for teaching and a commitment to student success
