We are looking for a talented attorney to join our in-house legal department. This position supports company and project leadership in legal matters and risk management, including contract drafting, negotiation, and administration, corporate legal entity operations, project insurance procurement support, and compliance. The successful candidate will work closely with our General Counsel and executive leadership. The role reports to our General Counsel.
Royal’s In-House Counsel is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day legal and contractual matters of the company, risk management assessments and mitigation, administrative operations, strategic planning, and relevant policy implementation. This role requires an attorney who can work across various legal and administrative functions and divisions to ensure seamless operations within Royal. In-house counsel will also work closely with Royal’s General Counsel, HR Team, and executives to develop and implement policies and procedures that enhance overall efficiency and productivity within the company.

In-House Counsel Responsibilities & Duties
- Contract Management: Draft, review, negotiate, and manage a wide variety of agreements, including professional services contracts and subcontracts, vendor contracts, construction contracts, and corporate contracts.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements and coordinate with in-house and external counsel. Responsible for adherence to regulatory requirements, performing risk assessments, and developing mitigation strategies.
- Risk Management: Manage and mitigate legal risks through proactive identification and resolution of legal issues and through designing and implementing company policies and procedures. Conduct legal research related to applicable laws, regulatory compliance, and risk management.
- Provide accurate, relevant, and timely advice to Royal on a variety of legal topics. Provide legal research, risk analysis, and practical guidance to internal stakeholders.
- Maintain and organize contract databases, legal files, and project documentation.
- Coordinate with outside legal counsel; support claims and dispute resolution matters.
- Assist in the development and implementation of administrative policies and procedures.
- Understand Royal’s service lines and strategic markets to assist in overall execution of Royal’s Mission/Vision/Values.
In-House Counsel Qualifications & Skills
- Juris Doctorate and Louisiana law licensure required.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of legal experience required.
- Legal experience at a law firm or in an in-house counsel role.
- Experience with professional services and construction contracts required.
- Experience with regulatory compliance preferred but not required.
- Experience with labor and employment law a plus.
- Proven track record of managing complex legal, business, and corporate initiatives.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Effective leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Experience with administrative policy development and implementation.
- Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite.
