Westwood is a multi-disciplined engineering and surveying firm that provides services across the country for the development of land and energy projects. We are a highly experienced and dynamic team of individuals dedicated to providing high-level professional services to our clients.


Westwood’s Baton Rouge, LA operation is searching for a Construction Observer with strong technical, communication and interpersonal skills that works well in a fast-paced construction environment. 

Requirements

  

  • Will conduct on-site observations of construction activities related to site infrastructure installation to serve residential and commercial developments.
  • Evaluating erosion control.
  • Observing site grading activities
  • Observing utility construction activities such as water, sanitary sewer and storm sewer installation
  • Observing paving construction
  • Reviewing testing reports
  • Ensuring the contractors are constructing improvements in accordance to the City standards and specifications and construction plans
  • Preparing weekly construction summary reports. 
  • Reviewing monthly contractor pay applications.
  • Occasional travel within Louisiana.

  

Qualifications


  • Prefer an individual with at least 3-5 years of experience in residential & commercial construction observation. 
  • Strong technical expertise as it relates to construction activities.
  • Experience with City of Dallas standards and specifications.
  • Must have the ability to read, analyze and interpret construction plans. 
  • Must be familiar with grading, utility and street construction.
  • Ability to utilize Microsoft Office products such as Xcel and Word to create weekly reports, etc.
  • Experience in reviewing pay applications.
