GEO Prep Mid-City is a part of a network of high-quality public charter schools that deliver the innovative GEO Academies model developed by the GEO Foundation. It joins GEO Prep Academy, GEO Next Generation High School, and GEO Prep Baker in delivering a high-quality learning experience to parents and students in Louisiana. GEO Prep Mid-City is a tuition-free, public charter school that serves students in grades K-8. Our dedicated faculty are committed to providing an outstanding education for students each day as they transition from elementary school to middle school to high school and COLLEGE. Through our partnership with local colleges and universities, our students will be able to take dual credit courses on the college campus to earn college and career credits at no cost to the student. Our curriculum and our teaching methods are designed using Core Knowledge, Teach Like a Champion and blended learning model. We are a TAP school!

This is a 10-month position.Â
ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS:Â
- An Elementary School teacher is required to perform the following duties:Â
- Plan and implement a blended learning environment, providing direct and indirect instruction in the areas of Social Studies, Science, Language Arts, Health, and Mathematics based on state standardsÂ
- Participation in all TAP requirements, focusing on data-driven instructionÂ
- Create an inviting, exciting, innovative and engaging learning environment that develops student critical thinking and problem-solving skillsÂ
- Prepare students for strong academic achievement and passing of all required assessmentsÂ
- Communicate regularly with parentsÂ
- Continually assess student progress toward mastery of standards and keep students and parents well informed of student progress by collecting and tracking data, providing daily feedback, weekly assessments, and occasional parent/teacher conferencesÂ
- Work with the Special Education teachers and administration to serve special needs students in the classroomÂ
- Attend all grade level and staff meetings and attend designated school functions outside of school hoursÂ
- Establish and enforce rules for behavior and procedures for maintaining order among the students for whom you are responsibleÂ
- Accept and incorporate feedback and coaching from administrative staffÂ
- Perform necessary duties including but not limited to morning, lunch, dismissal, and after-school dutiesÂ
- Performs other duties, as deemed appropriate, by the principalÂ
- Dress professionally and uphold all school policiesÂ
Requirements
Â
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:Â Â
- A Bachelor’s degree or higher with at least 24 credit hours in the content areaÂ
- Passing score on Praxis test for certification area OR valid Louisiana Teaching License Â
- Strong technical skills, particularly in integrating technology in the classroom to drive academic achievementÂ
- Demonstrated volunteer or community serviceÂ
- At least one (or more) of the following:Â
- National Board CertificationÂ
- TAP Experience (sign-on bonus for TAP certification)Â
- Core Knowledge ExperienceÂ
- Experience with Blended LearningÂ
- At least two years of successful teaching in an urban environmentÂ
