LOCATION: This is a nationwide traveling position requiring frequent travel to project sites across the United States. This role will be 95% traveling.

COMPENSATION: This position includes a base hourly rate when not assigned to prevailing wage projects. When working on applicable projects, compensation will be paid in accordance with the prevailing wage requirements for the project location. Employees traveling more than 95 miles from the job site are eligible for per diem.

ABOUT THE JOB

The Tepa Companies are seeking a Journeyman Electrician to be responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing complex electrical systems on industrial and fuel-related construction projects. This role interprets technical drawings and specifications to ensure electrical installations are completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with applicable codes, project requirements, and quality standards.

Job Functions:

  • Plans new or modified installations to minimize waste of materials, provide access for future maintenance, and avoid unsightly, hazardous, and unreliable wiring, consistent with specifications and local electrical codes.
  • Prepares sketches showing location of wiring and equipment, or follows diagrams or blueprints, ensuring that concealed wiring is installed before completion of future walls, ceilings, and flooring.
  • Measures, cuts, bends, threads, assembles, and installs electrical conduit, using tools, such as hacksaw, pipe threader, and conduit bender.
  • Pulls wiring through conduit, assisted by an electrician helper.
  • Splices wires by stripping insulation from terminal leads, using knives or pliers, twisting or soldering wires together, and applying tape or terminal caps.
  • Connects wiring to lighting fixtures and power equipment, using hand tools.
  • Connects power cables to equipment, such as electric range or motor, and installs grounding leads.
  • Tests continuity of circuit to ensure electrical compatibility and safety of components, using testing instruments, such as an ohmmeter, battery and buzzer, and oscilloscope.
  • Observe the functioning of installed equipment or system to detect hazards and need for adjustments, relocation, or replacement.
  • Repairs faulty equipment or systems.
  • Cuts and welds steel structural members, using flame-cutting and welding equipment.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • Minimum of 6 years of verified electrical trade experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of verified industrial or fuel systems electrical experience.
  • Current state-issued Journeyman Electrician license required.
  • Experience on federal, Department of Defense (DoD), or heavy industrial construction projects is preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge of electrical installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair.
  • Proficient in the use of electrical testing and diagnostic equipment.
  • Thorough understanding of electrical power distribution systems, controls, and power generation.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical specifications.
  • Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC), Unified Facilities Guide Specifications (UFGS), and Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC).
  • Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with project managers, superintendents, craft personnel, subcontractors, and clients.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain access to U.S. military installations, including successfully passing required background checks.
  • Ability to pass a drug screen and back ground check in compliance with federal regulation.
  • Ability to travel and work at project sites throughout the United States, as required.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and perform the physical demands of construction work, including climbing, lifting, kneeling, and working in confined spaces when necessary.
