John Deere Diesel Technician


The Diesel Technician performs diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance on customer and dealer-owned agricultural equipment. This role is critical to keeping our customers up and running during the moments that matter most.

What You’ll Do

  • Diagnose, repair, and maintain agricultural equipment and precision ag technology systems
  • Perform inspections and identify additional service opportunities
  • Participate in John Deere Service EDUCATE training programs
  • Stay current on John Deere and competitive equipment technology
  • Complete work orders, documentation, and time tracking accurately
  • Work efficiently to meet productivity, quality, and customer satisfaction expectations
  • Account for all time, parts, and materials used in assigned work
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and a clean, safe work environment
  • Follow all safety policies, procedures and OSHA regulations
  • Support customer clinics and training as needed
  • Perform field service work when required
  • Take directions from the Location Service Manager to prioritize work, assignments, and customer needs


What We’re Looking For

  • 1–2+ years of experience in diesel or heavy equipment repair
  • Strong mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to perform repairs using specialized tools, technical manuals, and diagnostic software
  • Experience with diagnostic software (John Deere Service Advisor preferred)
  • Ability to operate equipment for testing and diagnostics
  • Strong work ethic and ability to work independently and on a team
  • Positive attitude and strong customer service mindset
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; technical degree preferred
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • Ability to lift up to 75 lbs and perform physical work

Work Schedule

  • Off-season: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
  • In-season: Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM – 5:30 PM & Rotational Saturdays: 7:30 AM – 12:00 PM
  • Additional overtime and on-call hours during peak seasons
