Position Summary:  

Works closely with employees to assess their health needs, provide education on health and safety practices, and manage any injury or illness concern that arise in the workplace. Involved in monitoring compliance with health regulations and standards, ensuring that the workplace remains a safe environment for all employees. Additionally, will collaborate with other healthcare professionals and departments to address any health or safety concerns and facilitate appropriate interventions

 

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  1. Completes Employee Health visits per organization policy, department protocols and standing orders.
  2. Provides safe, competent and efficient nursing care for minor and acute injuries and illnesses via protocols and medical directives.
  3. Assesses work-related injuries and illnesses, treating injury or referring according to protocol and assisting with follow-up as needed and expedite return to work.
  4. Monitors employee work-related illness and injury trends and assesses, develops and implements strategies to prevent work-acquired injury or illness.
  5. Performs bloodborne pathogen and communicable disease exposure assessment, treatment and follow up per OSHA, CDC guidelines.
  6. Manages preventative screening and medical surveillance programs (e.g. new hire, TB skin testing, influenza, hepatitis B, MMR, varicella and other appropriate immunizations) designed to identify and monitor risks to the employee’s health
  7. Ensures that all OSHA required lab tests, immunizations, TB precautions and fit testing are completed on new employees and operationalizes annual fit testing.
  8. Implements OSHA requirements as recommended for employees.

 



Required:

  • Associate degree from an accredited nursing school
  • State licensed as a registered nurse
  • Three years direct nursing experience
  • BLS certification

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing
  • Experience working in either an employee or occupational health clinic, infectious disease or emergency room/urgent care, case management
  • Phlebotomy proficiency
  • Experience in cost containment, worker’s compensation, and OSHA regulations
