Position Summary:
Performs nursing procedures/treatments in the home within scope of practice. Â Works under the direction of the registered professional nurse.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
1. Â Â Performs a variety of basic nursing procedures under the direction of a registered nurse which may include, but are not limited to, wound care, wound irrigations, medication administration, catheterization, range of motion exercises and glucose monitoring.
2. Â Â If the LPN is appropriately qualified, prepares and administers oral, rectal, subcutaneous, intramuscular, intradermal and topical medications to patients per policy and procedure. Â Observes patient response to medication, records unexpected reactions and reports them to the registered nurse. Â Â
3.   Identifies common patient problems, symptoms and reactions through monitoring  Â
4. Â Â Participates in the development, review and evaluation of the plan of care appropriate to the age of the patient in conjunction with the registered nurse.Â
5. Â Â Demonstrates sensitivity to patient comfort and privacy and expresses interest in the patient progress. Â
6. Â Â Provides for the physical and emotional comfort of the patient as well as a safe home environment.
Required:
•   Current licensure with the Michigan State Board of Nursing.
•   Two years current nursing experience.
•   Current CPR certification.
•   Valid driver’s license, proof of valid auto insurance, and maintain a driving record in accordance with McLaren’s corporate driving policy and eligibility guidelines.
