ā¢ Prepares samples for evaluation including cutting, grinding, and polishing material using laboratory equipment.
ā¢ Conducts appropriate chemical, metallurgical, and physical tests of process or production material with the use of precision laboratory equipment.
ā¢ Approves material meeting established criteria and reports exceptions.
ā¢ Maintains complete and accurate test records.
ā¢ Adjusts technical processes based on test results.
ā¢ Frequent contacts with others outside the work group.
ā¢ Assists with problem solving on manufacturability problems as they relate to physical, metallurgical, or chemical matters.
ā¢ Ability to perform light maintenance on laboratory equipment (examples listed below) and maintains laboratory supplies which are currently available in the work area and through GM (Shop Supply),Ā change a band saw blade,Ā change a cut off saw blade,Ā refill coolant tanks
ā¢ Maintains safety and good housekeeping standards and continuously improves standardized work.
ā¢ Inputs raw information into results database and provides analysis.
ā¢ Provides written reports of analysis.
ā¢ Interacts with various manufacturing database systems.
ā¢ Flexibility to work any shift and weekends.
Qualifications
ā¢ 5+ year of related lab experience and/or entry level Bachelorās degree in a Technical/Sciences-related area
ā¢ Knowledge of materials, substances, and their characteristics
ā¢ Oral and written communication skills
ā¢ Medium level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others
ā¢ Analytical ability where problems are somewhat complex
ā¢ Basic MS office skills
ā¢ Areas of expertise include: Quality, Testing, and Automotive systems
