Position Summary: Under the direct supervision of a respiratory therapist, assists in the administration of prescribed doses of medical gases and the set-up and administration of therapeutic treatment and aerosolized drugs to patients. Uses oxygen mixtures in conjunction with therapeutic respiratory therapy equipment.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  1. Assists in the administration of prescribed doses of medical gases and the set-up and administration of therapeutic treatment and aerosolized drugs to patients.
  2. Uses oxygen mixtures in conjunction with therapeutic respiratory therapy equipment.
  3. Assists with patient care rounds per policy.
  4. Provides and monitors routine oxygen therapy, non-critical patient transports and patient education, as needed.

5.聽聽聽聽聽 Treats patients using a variety of methods including chest physiotherapy, aerosol medications, and non-invasive methods such as CPAP and BIPAP therapies.

  1. Monitors and records the progress of treatment.
  2. Teaches patients how to use treatments.
  3. Operates, calibrates, processes, and maintains respiratory equipment.
  4. Cleans, reassembles, and performance tests various pieces of patient care equipment.
  5. Restocks respiratory supplies and cylinders.

11.Actively pursues education and training necessary to become a respiratory therapist.

12.Performs other related duties as required and directed.



Qualifications:

Required:

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 High school graduate or GED equivalent.

  • Currently enrolled, with successful completion of three semesters, and in good standing with a Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC) approved respiratory care program.聽
  • BLS certification.
